AP Exams
Dear CDS High School Families,

Semana Santa is soon upon us and that means time to relax, recharge, and reconnect with friends, family, and ourselves. And it also means that soon, AP Exams begin. The AP Exams this year will be held from May 2nd until May 13th in the CDS High School Library and select classrooms. The AP Exam is the culminating evaluation of a student's knowledge and skill in the subject area, and an opportunity for university credit in some schools. Some High School Juniors and Seniors are taking up to four AP Exams during this AP Exam period. In addition, teaching and learning will continue as students and teachers make every attempt to cover and master material in each course. In order to accommodate all that must be accomplished, students taking AP Exams will be expected to attend class when not taking an AP Exam. Attendance during non-AP test time was a practice by the High School a few years ago and is quite common in most college preparatory schools.

The following are some guidelines for the testing periods and expectations for the two weeks of AP Exams:

• The two testing periods will start at 8 am and 1 pm
• The Cafetorium will be open to test-taking high school students from 11:30 until 1 pm
• When AP students are not taking exams they will be attending classes, in the library, Cafetorium, or Senior Lounge.

Finally and equally important, the High School aims to create a quiet, contemplative tone during the two weeks of tests. Therefore students, teachers, and staff will make every effort to maintain a high school environment that fosters and contributes to the best results possible for each one of our students taking the AP Exams.

Warm regards,

Chris
