In the Middle, January 27: 'Facebook: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly'

 

From Dr. Nolan's blog: "When I was a child, my father loved cow-boy movies. As a result, the first movie I ever saw in a real theater was a 1966 Italian spaghetti Western starring Clint Eastwood. Recently, Dr. Kerri Nolan, our Middle School principal, wrote about the different perspectives of the use of Facebook with adolescents. Taking the time to reflect on best practices in other schools, the legal issues in the U.S. and the concerns with distractions, she walks the reader through the pros and cons of Facebook. On Wednesday morning, Tech Coordinator Joshua Knudson and Director Greg MacGilpin presented a workshop titled, "A Parent's Guide to Facebook". The discussion centered on how Facebook use for early adolescents and pre-adolescents needs to be monitored; parents must be aware of how to use Facebook.
